YIHR: mobilizing community-engaged and policy relevant health equity research across disciplines and around the world.
YIHR is an innovator in critical health research, promoting social justice and healthy lives and communities locally to internationally. We have been developing health research since 1990 as an organized research unit (ORU) at York University in Toronto, Canada.
YIHR has a mandate to facilitate, support and conduct health research under six broad themes: Diversity and Health; Health Law and Ethics; Health and the Environment; Health Governance; Health Care and Health Equity; and Social Justice. These themes are explored through the lenses of community engagement, interdisciplinarity, internationality,multi-method approaches and policy relevance.
